Lead Software Engineer - Feeds
FactSet creates flexible, open data and software solutions for over 200,000 investment professionals worldwide, providing instant access to financial data and analytics that investors use to make crucial decisions. What You'll Do: - Anchor the technical direction for two strategic PRD platforms (UCF + FDF) that directly impact how clients consume FactSet data. - Build a high-performing team in India from the ground up — define the bar, the practices, and the culture. - High visibility with senior engineering and product leadership across Commercial & Market Distribution Engineering. - Solve real problems at scale: stability, cost efficiency, custom feature integration, and forward-looking system design. - Influence both architecture and hiring strategy as we scale the team. - Clear growth path to manage a larger team as the India hub expands — this role is the foundation for a future engineering manager or senior technical leadership track. - Own and evolve the architecture of UCF and FDF, with a focus on scalability, stability, and cost-effective delivery. - Design integration patterns that allow custom client features to be delivered at scale without proliferating one-off code paths. - Partner with engineering leaders in London and the US to align on shared platform direction and ownership boundaries. - Drive technical decisions around cloud delivery (Snowflake, S3, columnar formats), API design, and data pipeline modernization. - Contribute hands-on to critical components — this is a player-coach role, not pure management. - Participate in hiring: define rubrics, run interview loops, calibrate bar across SE3 and SE2 hires. - Represent the India team in cross-org architectural forums and steering committees. What We're Looking For: - Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or Engineering or related field, or equivalent education. - Willingness to work in UK hours from 1:30PM IST to 9:30PM IST - Please note that this is an individual contributor (non-management) role. - 7+ years of software engineering experience, including time in a technical lead or senior IC role. - Demonstrated experience architecting and operating production data platforms or distribution systems at scale. - Strong system design fundamentals: distributed systems, API design, data pipelines, and storage trade-offs. - Experience collaborating across geographies (US/UK time zones). - Deep system design and architectural judgment. Hands-on proficiency in Python and/or C# preferred, with the ability to evaluate the right tool for the job across other modern stacks. - Cloud-native data delivery experience (Snowflake, AWS S3, parquet, streaming, or equivalent). - Strong on cost-efficiency and performance optimization at the infrastructure layer (warehouse tuning, throughput, scaling strategies). - Proven ability to design extensible platforms — plugin architectures, configuration-driven systems, multi-tenant design. - Excellent written and verbal communication; can write a design doc a London architect respects and an India SE2 can execute against. - Exceptional people skills — this is a defining requirement, not a nice-to-have. - Experience in financial data, market data, or pricing/reference data domains.
