CSS MPT Explained: What It Is and How to Qualify

The MPT is a gate, not a merit score
The MCQ-based Preliminary Test (MPT) decides who may sit the CSS written examination — your MPT score does not count toward the final merit. That changes strategy: you need to qualify comfortably, not top the list.
Six sections, two of them heavy
The 200-MCQ paper covers English, general abilities (quantitative and logical), current affairs, Pakistan affairs, Islamic studies (or ethics) and everyday science. English and general abilities together carry about half the paper — secure them first.

A three-month qualifying plan
Month 1: daily English vocabulary and quantitative drills. Month 2: add current affairs and Pakistan affairs reading with weekly section-wise MCQ sets. Month 3: full 200-MCQ timed mocks every week, reviewing every wrong answer. Consistency, not genius, clears the MPT.
