Senior Data Scientist - Payments (Inference)

Airbnb is looking for a sharp Senior Data Scientist specializing in quantitative modeling for our payments infrastructure. The core mission of this role is to improve the accuracy and efficiency of payment processing through advanced inference techniques. You will take ownership of designing, implementing, and validating machine learning models that predict payment behavior, detect fraud patterns, or optimize transaction routing. Key responsibilities include collaborating closely with Engineering and Product teams to productionize complex analytical models, performing rigorous A/B testing, and analyzing large-scale transactional datasets. This role requires a deep academic understanding of statistical modeling, combined with hands-on experience building robust, scalable ML pipelines for high-volume financial systems. Candidates must demonstrate ownership from initial hypothesis generation through to operational deployment.
